Get Your Home Ready To Sell Now!

Edge, mow and fertilize the lawn. Reseed sparse areas. (If you have pets, make sure to pick up after your pets constantly)

Trim hedges, weed lawns and flowerbeds, and prune trees. Cut back overgrown shrubbery. A house with curb appeal sells faster than homes with none. :)

Reseal cracks in foundation, steps, walkways, walls, and patios. Power-wash the exterior. Don't miss this step!

Clean and align gutters and downspouts; clean the chimney. Make sure gutters are working as they are supposed to, and not draining close to the house.

Remove oil stains from driveway and garage. Keep walks and driveway swept or free of ice.(FUN fact: cat litter is great for removing oil stains!

Wash the windows inside and out. Don't forget the window casings!

Hire a cleaning service to thoroughly clean the interior. PRO TIP: Make a list ahead of time for what you want them to clean!

Paint the walls a neutral color and ceilings off white or beige.

Repair cracks, holes, and damage to plaster, wallboard, wallpaper, paint, and tiles.

Replace damaged windowpanes, moldings, and woodwork. These are important repairs to new homeowners.

Repair drippy faucets and showerheads. Unclog slow drains. 

Shampoo carpets, scrub and wax linoleum, or wood floors.

Clean out the fireplace and lay some logs in it.

Mend torn screens. Clean out all window tracks.

Replace burned-out light bulbs. Use brighter light bulbs. You will want your home to be very bright!

Re-nail creaking boards or stairs; lubricate squeaking doors.

Clean all appliances top to bottom and inside and out. (especially refrigerator and oven).

Replace old toilet seats and shower curtains. This is something most everyone misses.

Clear all cobwebs from corners and doorways.

Wash all light switches, handrails, and doorknobs. (A great thing to have on hand is spray disinfectant!)

Get a home inspection so that you can get a heads up on potential repair requests that may come with an offer.  If you've already got the information, you can get a head start on the repairs. :)
